INTRODUCTION

Coagulation factor II (F2) is proteolytically cleaved to form thrombin in the 1^st step of the coagulation cascade which ultimately results in the stemming of blood loss. F2 also has a role in preserving vascular integrity during development and postnatal life. F2 gene mutations lead to various forms of thrombosis and dysprothrombinemia.

DESCRIPTION

Thrombin Human Recombinant produced in E.coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 296 amino acids (328-622) and having a molecular mass of 33.9 kDa.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Sterile Filtered colorless solution.

FORMULATION

The Thrombin solution (1mg/ml) contains 20mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH 8.0), 0.4M Urea and 10% glycerol.

STABILITY

Store at 4°C if entire vial will be used within 2-4 weeks. Store, frozen at -20°C for longer periods of time. 
For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

PURITY

Greater than 80.0% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
